Local Missions: June 2011 … ready, set …

On Friday 17 June our two (actually, three) local missions teams will be meeting at 16:00 at the Neelsie parking lot to depart for Cloetesville and Jamestown, where they will be based for the next week and a bit to serve the schools in the communities with academic tutoring and other relevant activities. There will also be a team that goes to Kayamandi,  based in Cloetesville.

There have been many lamentations in the media about the state of the South African school system, and these academically focused missions are an opportunity for us to engage with these challenges faced by the children and teachers in our city, whilst trusting the Lord for the opportunity to minister His truth to their hearts.

We would love to move away from the possible perception that the local academic missions are only for students. We do however know that people work and have families, and may not be able to attend the mission on a full-time basis …
There are however other ways to be involved with the upcoming local missions:

  • be involved in the community outreach day (Saturday 25 June),
  • visit the team in the evenings,
  • be deliberate in intercession,
  • sponsor ready-made meals or groceries to the teams on site
  • attend the “testimony evening” on Sunday 26 June (to share what the Lord did during our time in the community)
Together we can be the multi-generational church family that God is calling us to be.
Here are the contact details of the people involved in leading the teams from 17 – 27 June 2011:

Please contact Jeannine jv Rensburg (082 449 1643 – jeannine@enstb.co.za), or the above leaders directly, to inform us of how you will be getting involved.
Thank you …
